Technical Stuff

Before I am going to talk about the game itself. I want to tell you about the games Graphic Mode. Because there are a few options, and it will influence your game. So it is good to know what is what.

There are 3 options:

• Fidelity(default setting)
• 30fps
• Ray tracing 
• Enhanced lightning 
• Additional VFX
• Increased scene density
• 4k resolution

• Performance RT
• 60fps
• Ray tracing
• Lower resolution
• Adjusted lightning, VFX, scene density

• Performance
• 60fps
• No ray tracing
• Increased picture resolution

I went for the Performance RT, because I want the most frame rates possible and ray tracing. Added factor is that I do not have a 4k television. Even though it says lower resolution. If you don't have that 4k tv, than you don't notice that at all! It's all about personal preference of course. But the Performance RT, works perfectly.

The Game

You follow the story of Ratchet & Clank. As they travel across different worlds, to stop their archenemy Doctor Nefarious. He wants to exploit a sudden catastrophic dimensional collapse. To achieve his dream of completely exterminating organic life in the universe. 

Ratchet & Clank get separated after arriving in an alternate dimension, ruled by Emperor Nefarious. 

They encounter a female Lombax named Rivet. Who leads a resistance group, fighting against that same Emperor. 

Ratchet, Clank and Rivet have to work together, to stop Nefarious's plans of conquering other realities.

Blast your way through an inter dimensional adventure. Jump between action packed worlds and beyond, at mind blowing speeds. Complete with amazing visuals and a wide variety of weapons.

You start the game with a party. Ratchet & Clank are being celebrated for their previous endeavors. When Clank is about to give Ratchet a well deserved gift. Dr Nefarious turns up...and steels it. Now it is up to you, to get that gift back. And save the universe.

Collectibles

Of course this game has a good amount of collectibles for you to find.  

• Gold Bolts
• Spybots
• Lorbs
• Armor
• CraiggerBears
• Blizon Crystals
• Zurpstones
• Glitch Challenges

All the above collectibles are needed, if you are going for the platinum. But you don't need to find 100% of all the collectibles. For example, you only need 5 out of the 25 gold bolts, for the trophy. But with the CraiggerBears, you do need them all. 

Weapons

In the game you will go through 9 different planets. And of course the collectibles are scattered over all of them. You will also need to find raritanium. That is what you need to upgrade your weapons. And those are plenty in this game. There are a total of 20 weapons for you to unlock. And they all have their own benefits, upgrades and specialities. 

Every planet has at least one Mrs. Zurkon. Which is the shopkeeper for all your weapon related stuff. It is an absolute blast to have such a wide variety of weapons. One even more fun than the other. And you need a lot of weapons, preferably fully stocked on ammunition. You are going to need it.

Don't worry about not having enough currency to buy your weapons. Because there is so much scrap to find on every planet. You will have more than enough to buy your gear. But if for some reason you find yourself short. You can always stop by the Battle Arena and farm what you need. 

The Battle Arena is full of really fun challenges. There are 15 of those in total. It's a great place to farm scrap, level up your weapons and test your skills.

My Thoughts On The Game

When I started this game, my mind was blown straight away! The graphics are absolutely spotless, and the sound is a joy to have bouncing in your ears. The controls are very smooth and work as they are supposed to. Even if you have never played a Ratchet & Clank game before. Story wise that doesn't matter. If you have played it before, than of course, there will be familiar characters and you have the background story. But that is not needed to understand this one. Just sit back, relax and enjoy this amazing ride!

During your adventure you meet all kinds of creatures that you need to help out. Which is not distracting from the story at all. This game was an absolute joy to play, from start to finish and back again. Ratchet & Clank are an incredible team and the newest addition to the game, Rivet, brings a new dimension to the game. Everybody has their own part to play. And it is very well executed. I have seriously not a single bad thing to say about this game. Insomniac Games did an amazing job!

If you are used to playing these type of games. I highly recommend on playing it on at least Resistance Leader. Unless of course you just want a chill, fun ride and enjoy the story to the fullest. I played it on Rebel Agent, but it was easy. If you want a good challenge, and not breeze through the game. Resistance Leader is the difficulty to go with. You can switch between the difficulties during your game, as much as you want. 

Going for the platinum was a no brainer for me. Most trophies you will unlock, just by playing the game. When I was done with the story, I only had 3 trophies left to get. This is the easiest platinum for a game like this. You can keeping hopping on and of all the planets after the story. So none of the trophies are missable. The Story is not very long, but if you played Ratchet & Clank before, that is no surprise. 

The only reason I am not giving a 10/10 for this game. Is because the story did not impact me, like for say 'The Last Of Us Part 2' did. Of course those games are not comparable, on their own. But it is with what the game does with you as a gamer. Of course that is very personal. So it can easily be different for someone else. Other than that, Ratchet & Clank is a perfect game! Insomniac Games can be very proud on this one. I will happily play this game over and over again.
